Kingdom of Swaziland

Located in Southern Africa, the Kingdom of Swaziland is a small, landlocked country. Despite its relative small size, the country has a variety of landscapes, with the land in higher altitude in the west compared to the east.
Because of its altitude, the Kingdom of Swaziland acts as the primary location of water supply in Southern Asia with four major rivers passing through the eastern region before flowing to the Indian Ocean. These rivers bring abundant water and flow all year round, which makes irrigation and hydropower generation viable

Its capital, Mbabane, is located in the central western part of the country. Due to its altitude, the climate is cool and pleasant. In late 15th century, early Swazi gradually migrated south from central and eastern Africa. A settlement was gradually established in the 16th century, which later became a Kingdom. It became a British "protectorate" after 1907.
On September 6, 1968, the nation declared its independence and took the official name of Kingdom of Swaziland.

The Kingdom of Swaziland is bordered by South Africa (to the north, west and south by the Transvaal Province) and Mozambique (to the east, along with Natal Province). Swaziland is located at approximately 26o49'S,
31o38'E and the country covers a somewhat circular-shaped territory. Its territory, from west to east, can be divided into four geographical regions: the Highveld, the Middleveld, the Lowveld and Lubombo.

The Reed Dance is an annual event in Swaziland where the King picks his bride. The exact date is chosen by the Sangoma (shaman). It is one of the most unique and well-known traditional event in Swaziland where approximately 1,000 unmarried maidens (aged 12~16) dances before the King so that he could pick a new bride.
